Traffic Operations
Implementing solutions to manage traffic flow on the road network

The United Kingdom's primary road network comprises over 6000 miles of A-class roads and motorways. Over 100 billion vehicle miles are travelled on the network each year, which not only facilitates UK industry and supports the economy, but also affords individuals the freedom and opportunity to move around the country.

It is therefore vital that the UK road network performs to its optimum level, to ensure that congestion is kept to a minimum, and to assist traffic to move freely from point to point.

Built on a wealth of experience in the management and control of traffic flow at vulnerable locations, Speed Check Services has become an expert in the field of Intelligent Transport Systems integration and is ideally placed to provide highways operators and agencies, with innovative technology solutions to protect roads and structures, and to help keep traffic moving on the trunk road network.

As the population grows and car-ownership increases, pioneering systems are required to enable the strategic network to cope. By adopting technology in addition to traditional engineering measures, programmes such as Active Traffic Management, Controlled Motorways and Toll roads can be implemented. SCS can provide design, consultation through to project delivery and ongoing maintenance of the tools which facilitate such schemes.

Smart solutions combining Global Positioning System technology, Automatic Number Plate Recognition, high-accuracy Count and Classification, Digital Image Capture and bespoke software packages can all contribute to the management of the nation's roads.
