Check Services
SCS was created in 1999 to bring the SPECS safety camera
system to the road safety market. Today, SCS is one of the
UK's foremost providers of intelligent transport solutions
for the road traffic market sector, and remains the sole
provider of digital average speed enforcement to Police

History
Early 1990s - Work started to develop origination/destination
surveying tools using Automatic Number Plate Recognition

a speed measurement system, which was then taken through
Home Office Type Approvals (HOTA).
April 1999 - SPECS (or SVDD) received UK Home Office
Type Approval on 3rd April 1999.
SCS Ltd was incorporated, and formally launched to take
SPECS Digital Average Speed technology to market.
April 2005 - SPECS3 enters the UK Home Office Type
Approval process.
December 2009 - SPECS3 Home Office Type Approval is achieved.
March 2010 - Development funding secured from private equity firm LDC to accelerate expansion
policy.
